Laney & Foster, P.C. represents professionals, including: architects, engineers, design consultants and accountants.

The firm consists of six attorneys, including partners: John M. Laney, Jr.; Roger C. Foster; Forrest L. Adams, II; and Gregory S. Manning, and two associates: John C. DeShazo and Andrew N. King. Our attorneys hold membership in many professional associations including the Birmingham and American Bar Associations, Alabama Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, Alabama Defense Lawyer Association, Defense Research Institute, Florida Defense Lawyer Association, International Association of Defense Counsel, and Forum on the Construction Industry. Most have served on Professional Liability Committees, Architects and Engineers Liability Committees and Construction Law Committees. Mr. Laney, Mr. Adams, Mr. Manning and Mr. DeShazo are licensed in both Alabama and Florida. Mr. Foster and Mr. Bowers are licensed in Alabama.

Both Mr. Laney and Mr. Foster have been in full-service professional liability practice (Mr. Laney, 38 years; Mr Foster, 28 years) involving defense for all types of professionals. Beginning about 20 years ago, Mr. Laney began focusing on design liability and was joined by Mr. Foster. The firm now represents design professionals in State and Federal courts all over the state of Alabama and parts of Florida from Pensacola to Jacksonville. The scope of liability claims defended include bodily injury, economic loss and construction and design "defects", brought by owners, developers, third-parties, general contractors and subcontractors. Cases have involved all types of projects—hotels, high-rise condominiums, schools, airports, roads, commercial and residential developments, etc. In addition to design liability, the firm also represents accountants in the defense of accounting liability cases.

Our lawyers routinely perform contract reviews for professionals and advise regarding contract language. We also attend contract negotiation meetings with clients from time-to-time. Our attorneys routinely speak to lawyers as well as architects, engineers, contractors and developers at seminars involving design liability.
