The law firm of Laney & Foster, P.C. strives to provide its clients with the best possible defense in a cost-efficient manner. Laney & Foster, P.C. focuses on civil litigation, with an emphasis on the defense of damage suits involving claims of professional liability against architects and engineers.

Laney & Foster, P.C. represents design professionals, including architects, landscape architects and engineers of all specialties.  The firm consists of six attorneys, including partners, John M. Laney, Jr., Roger C. Foster, Forrest L. Adams, II, and three associates, Gregory S. Manning, John C. DeShazo and Andrew N. King. Our attorneys hold membership in many professional associations including the Birmingham and American Bar Associations, Alabama Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, Alabama Defense Lawyer Association, Defense Research Institute, Florida Defense Lawyer Association, International Association of Defense Counsel, and Forum on the Construction Industry.  Most have served on Professional Liability Committees, Architects and Engineers Liability Committees and Construction Law Committees.  Mr. Laney, Mr. Adams and Mr. Manning are licensed in both Alabama and Florida.  Mr. Foster, Mr. DeShazo and Mr. King are licensed in Alabama.

Laney, Jr., a graduate of Cumberland School of Law.  Founding partner Roger C. Foster adds, "John and I have over 50 years’ combined experience in defending professional liability cases throughout Alabama in state and federal courts."

Mr. Laney is a member of the Forum on the Construction Industry, the Defense Research Institute, and the International Association of Defense Counsel. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association and is a certified construction dispute arbitrator. Mr. Foster is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law. He is a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute and the Forum on the Construction Industry and is frequently called upon to speak at professional meetings and seminars.

Our attorneys frequently are engaged to review contracts for design professionals as well as negotiating such on their behalf with owner's, developers and others.  We frequently attend meetings of Architectural and Engineering Associations and speak on different subjects, mostly relating to their liability exposures.
