History |
Both Mr. Laney and Mr.
Foster have been in full-service professional
liability practices involving defense for all types
of professionals. Beginning about 20 years
ago, Mr. Laney began focusing on design liability
and was joined by Mr. Foster about 15 years ago.
The firm now represents design professionals in
State and Federal courts all over the state of
Alabama and parts of Florida from Pensacola to
Jacksonville. The scope of liability claims
defended include bodily
injury, economic loss and construction and design
"defects", brought by owners, third-parties, general
contractors and subcontractors. They include damage claims
of all
types. The Florida work is heavily associated with
the high-rise coastal condo developments which
frequently spawn lawsuits in the Gulf Coast areas of
Alabama and Florida. John M. Laney, Jr., Gregory
S. Manning, Forrest L. Adams, II, John C. DeShazo
and Andrew N. King are each licensed in Alabama and
Florida. In addition to design liability, the
firm also represents accountants in
the defense of accounting liability cases.
In addition to
civil litigation, our lawyers perform contract
reviews routinely for design professionals and
advise regarding contract language. We also
attend, with clients, contract negotiation meetings
from time to time. Our attorneys have been
called upon to speak to lawyers as well as
architects, engineers, contractors and developers at
seminars involving design liability.
